TIP (Thoroughbred Incentive Program) is a nationally recognized awards program for off-the-track Thoroughbreds registered with the prestigious Jockey Club.  Thoroughbreds can win specialty high point ribbons at local RPHSA MN H/J shows and also qualify for the TIP Championship in Aiken, South Carolina in October 2025.

FOR EACH RPHSA H/J SHOW:
The rider must first obtain a TIP identification number for the Thoroughbred horse in order to be eligible for up to two high point awards:

  • Either Hunter High Point 2’6 and above OR Hunter High Point below 2’6 (only eligible for one hunter high-point per show)
  • Jumper High Point (all heights)


Next, send email to melissamae33@hotmail.com with the TIP # and rider name and explain which division(s) you have entered at Horse Spot for high point:

  • Hunter high point (high 2'6 or higher) Class 600
  • Hunter high point (low under 2'6) Class 601
  • Jumper high point (all heights) Class 602

CALCULATING HIGH POINT CHAMPIONS

 $250 in prize money for the top five placings for eligible Thoroughbreds in the designated .85m class (see prizelist). Payout for jumper placings for eligible Thoroughbreds in designated class. Cannot show in classes bigger than 1.0m.

$250 in prize money for the top five high scores for eligible Thoroughbreds in either of the two classes (1-Modified Hunter; 2-Pre-Children's/Adult Hunter) offered at the 2’3’’ to 2’6” division. If a rider enters both the Modified and Pre-Childrens/Adult designated classes, rider must clarify which score they want to use before rider enters the class, otherwise the first score will be used. Prizes will be awarded based on judge’s numerical score in designated class (see prizelist). In the event of a tie, judge will break the tie.

Payout for highest hunter scores for eligible Thoroughbreds in designated Modified and Pre-Children's/Adult Hunter Classes.

1st- $100, 2nd-$50, 3rd-$40, 4th- $35, 5th- $25 (prize money is split over 2 days when hunters run identical  Friday/Saturday schedule).

Break tie #1- # of first places (.75m or higher)
Break tie #2- Highest # of total points in ALL class=pts for placing + # of class entries (1st-10, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-2, 5th-1, 6th-.5) THEN DIVIDE BY NUMBER OF CLASSES HORSE ENTERED
